The PPCA (Phonographic Performance Company of Australia) and the Australia Council of the Arts are jointly offering recording grants worth $15,000 to make new music.

Applications close on November 25. For more information and to apply, go to australiacouncil.gov.au/grants/. Applicants must register for free with PPCA under its Artist Direct Distribution Scheme, see ppca.com.au or call (02) 8569 1100.

This is the second year that the PPCA and Australia Council are offering these grants. Last year’s recipients included Courtney Barnett, The Grigoryan Brothers, Lance Ferguson of The Bamboos, Ben Salter and Ainslie Wills.

Dan Rosen, PPCA Chief Executive Officer said he was pleased with the quality and diversity of last year’s entrants. “The response was incredibly strong and a great indication of the quality of our recording artists,” he said.

Andy Rantzen, Acting Music Director of the Australia Council added, “We’re delighted to partner again with the PPCA on this initiative. These grants provide a much needed opportunity for Australian musicians, and this partnership enables us to support the recording of new, high quality Australian work.”
