In 1993, Relative Merits opened for a two-week season at Stables Theatre.
Now, 20 years on, the play returns to present at King Street Theatre from July 5, for a special 20th anniversary revival of Barry Lowe’s little play that could. Relative Merits is an emotionally charged play about Adam (Jeff Teale), a gay footballer coming out and struggling to deal with his confused, homophobic younger brother Clay (James Wright). The play’s central themes still have a profound socio-cultural resonance with today’s audience and are dealt with in a light-hearted, humourous way.
