Glebe Point Road live music venue B.E.D Beats Eats Drinks has closed, but this time the news isn’t all bad.

B.E.D announced the closure on its Facebook page over the weekend, suggesting “an issue regarding the use of part of the building which we have so far been unable to resolve” was behind the decision.

The news came as a shock to Glebe music lovers, who only last month learnt of the closure of Mr Falcon’s, another Glebe Point Road location for live music.

However, the future of B.E.D isn’t so uncertain, with the venue owners set to announce their opening at a new location.

In a statement to the BRAG, a City of Sydney spokesperson said:

“The City has been advised that the venue’s closure came about due to issues between the venue operator and the property owner.

“The venue operator has advised the City that it plans to make an announcement soon about a new venue for B.E.D.

“B.E.D is a participant in the X|Celerate program, a newly established partnership between the City and Destination NSW, that will provide funding and promotional support to small to medium music venues taking part in the Vivid Music program.

“The City supports live music and performances and wherever possible we work collaboratively with venues to resolve issues.”

No such good news for patrons of the backpacker-friendly Scubar, which has announced its imminent closure on Facebook.
