In celebration of a career that has spanned some 40 years, the Art Gallery of NSW is paying homage to Ronnie Tjampitjinpa, one of Australia’s leading Aboriginal artists.

The exhibition will feature major paintings and prints from the gallery’s collection, as well as a number of works from private collections. As one of the founders of the Papunya Tula Artists Group, Tjampitjinpa has shared stories of his distant homelands through his artwork.

Offering constant innovation while still staying within tradition, his work has evolved to be some of the most iconic Aboriginal art in Australia. The exhibition will showcase Tjampitjinpa’sunique contribution to Australian art, juxtaposing his early paintings with his more recent works, allowing the audience to see the development in his artistic processes.

The exhibition will show at the Art Gallery of NSW from Saturday April 4 – Sunday November 1.
