With Blue Wizard Nick Coyle aimed to make ‘the gayest one-man show ever’ and he believes he has succeeded.

Blue Wizard chronicles the story of an intergalactic, gay wizard who was sent to earth to communicate with the ancient Egyptians but arrived 3,000 years too late. The super-camp spectacle that follows is his attempt to return to his home comet by way of spells and magic dances. And there’s really nothing else to say about that.

Coyle takes on most of the reigns as writer, director and performer of the show. It incorporates theatre magic, singing, puppetry, story-telling and out of this world costume design to create his latest act of subversion.

Blue Wizard is presented in association with the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras at the Belvoir St Theatre in Surry Hills. The season opens on Thursday February 19 and runs until Sunday March 15. Get your tickets from Belvoir’s website.
