Carriageworks is set to host the work of world renowned Italian artist Francesco Clemente in an exhibition to fulfil tour blanket fort dreams. The exhibit will consist of six impeccably constructed and aesthetically opulent tents transforming the space into the most comprehensive tent village imaginable.

Encampmentwill see the old factory go through a metamorphosis; the30,000 square feet of exhibition spacewithin the Redfern-based multi-arts precinct turned into an opulent tented village.

Collaborating with acommunity of artisans in Rajasthan, India, Clemente has created a collection of tents showcasing his visionary artistic pursuit. These daring and sizeable works of art have become admired for their intricate detail, ornate imagery and brilliant depictions of humanity in both their literal and allegorical forms.

Encampmentdepicts a breadth of content inspired by an inexplicable awareness of time, cultural and meaning, with Byzantine angels, jewel-hewn self-portraits and arcane symbols adorning the tents. Members of the public are invited to walk among the tents to gain differing perspectives of this enigmatic work.

Free of charge, Encampment begins atCarriageworkson Saturday July 30 and runs until Sunday October 9.
