When it comes to art, the only way forward is by revisitng the past.

At least, that’s whatcurators Ryan McGennisken and Michael Staniak believe, and what their exhibition Future Process exemplifies. The exhibition examines why contemporary artists are increasingly moving away from post-modern thinking in favour of a return to modernism.

Spanning drawing, painting and sculpture which have been informed by new technologies, Future Process displays the work of six artists who are each active in examining the processes of past influences. The resurgence in painting and sculpture has seen a return to traditional craft and skill, something that has been missing from the art scene in recent decades. However, these more traditional forms are beingmixed with new materials and technologies.

Future Processwill be exhibited at theArtereal Gallery,747 Darling Street, Rozelle from Thursday August 6.
