The inaugural Get Reel Short Film Festival is all set to select its winning film at a gala event in Randwick this month.

Get Reel, a charity competition supporting Suicide Prevention Australia, attracted more than 1,650 entries around its theme of starting a positive conversation about mental health.

Those entries have been whittled down to an outstanding top ten finalists, each shot on a mobile device and less than ten minutes in duration.

The red carpet screening at The Ritz Cinema will feature all ten films and the prize announcement, with winners receiving a share in $4,500 worth of prizes.

The judges include actors Andrew Morley, Danielle Cormack,Jessica Grace Smith and Erin James, and filmmakersGreg van Borssum,Shae-Lee Shackleford,Ursula Dabrowsky andPaul Sullivan.
