Sydney local Harley Oliver is showcasing his new exhibition at Stanley Street Gallery, exploring time, memory and narrative.

The oil paintings in Dad Took A Picturedepict families and friends enjoying days out on the beach, and through them Oliver explores how time erodes and narratives fade. What is left are obscure faces and gaps in contexts.

Henry Oliver studied at Wimbledon Art School in London, painting English landscapes in an era of abstract minimalism. He spent some time directing and editing programs for National Geographic and the Discovery Channel, and now he dedicates his time to art in his studio in Rosebery.

Dad Took A Picture runs from Wednesday August 10 to Saturday September 3 at Stanley Street Gallery.
