Sydney’s newest theatre, Kings Cross Theatre (KXT), is teaming up with the young guns at the BakehouseTheatre Company for an exciting 2016 program.

KXT launched late last year on Level 2 of the Kings Cross Hotel, and now its curating company Bakehouse Theatre will continue its commitment to a broad range of productions as well as its long-held practice of arts events, think tanks and forums.

First on the roster for 2016 is Anthony Neilson’s confronting comedyYear Of The Family.Presented by Tooth and Sinew and directed by Richard Hilliar, it runs until Saturday February 20. May will see the Australian premiere of Anders Lustgard’sBlack Jesus, and later in the year, KXT will feature work from Africa, India and the Philippines.

From Monday February 22, KXT will host its own Mardi Gras Festival with a restaging of the indie hit Kaleidoscope, a trans story by Charlie O’Grady. Also on the program is a reading of new work Kin, with a discussion panel featuring Paul Capsis, and the musical Elegies, A Song Cycle. Throughout Mardi Gras month, the foyer of KXT will be exhibiting artworks by Lauren Marshall and Phillip Patterson.

bAKEHOUSE Co-Artistic Director Suzanne Millar is also excited about theNIDA-Bakehouse Collaborative Project. Other arts education platforms include a masterclass in intracultural practice with Kristine Landon-Smith (NIDA, Tamasha).
