Why do we feel so close to nature when we’re so far from it?

In her short art career, Lisa Sammut has shown she has a way of bringing the most expansive of natural phenomena inside. Whole galaxies are compressed into single rooms, cosmic grandeur caught in a few sparse metres.

In her next show at Archive Space, with the inconstant sun as my shadow,Sammut takes the essence of the wildernesses that consume, envelop and absorb us. Using video and lo-fi analog sculptures crafted from clock mechanisms and overhead projectors, the artist’s building a series of beautiful, romantic, mountainous landscapes inside the gallery for you to immerse yourself in and explore. Expect small miracles, big wonder and a trip to the edge.

with the inconstant sun as my shadow opens at Archive Space on Wednesday August 28.
