A new pop-up cafe, featuring OzHarvest chef Travis Harvey, will prepare quality lunch dishes from foods that would usually be discarded as waste.

The Harvested cafe is the new initiative by OzHarvest to counteract the high amounts of food that are thrown out in Australia each year. OzHarvest, Australia’s leading food rescue organisation, collects 340,000 kilograms of wasted food each month and distributes it to Australians in need.

The pop-up cafe will raise awareness regarding the amount of wasted foods that are still edible and can be transformed into gourmet meals. Harvested will be offering free meals on the opening day in exchange for a picture on social media with the hashtag #mealforameal, and will set future lunches at $15 per person.

For a free Harvested meal, head to 56 Harris Street in Pyrmont on Tuesday May 12. The cafe will be open every Tuesday and Wednesday for lunch from 11:30am to 2:30pm until the end of July.
