Persian International Film Festival Unveils Full Program
The Persian International Film Festival will showcase stories from around the world from August 22 through September 1.
Celebrating contemporary Persian film, the festival will showcase work from Iran, Afghanistan and their diasporic communities around the world. The lineup includes seven recent features, 10 shorts, a full retrospective program and even a football themed session. Kicking things off will be a screening of A Respectable Family – Iranian film noir directed by Massoud Bakhshi that tells the story of an academic who returns home after two decades in the West to a family and country he no longer recognises. Wrapping things up will be Chicken With Plums – a French-launguage tale directed by Vincent Paronnaud.
"We are very excited to present this year's program which showcases plenty of great talent from a cross-section of Persian communities both in their home countries and around the work. We set out to bring together stories that share that human essence and we hope to break stereotypes and forge new connections through film," said Festival Co-director Sanaz Fotouhl via release.
