Filipino artist Pio Abad will have his work showcased at the 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art from Saturday May 14.

London-based, Manila-born artist Abad has had his work exhibited around the glove, from London to Singapore and Hong Kong. Now, for the first time, his unique methods of appropriation and replication will be on show in Australia, when his work takes over the 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art in Sydney.

In an exhibition titled 1975-2015, Abad has used inexpensive reproduction techniques that contrast with the origins of the objects he has replicated, as a means of questioning the function of the domestic object in political action. His work reflects political and historical conflicts from Saigon in the 1970s through to the Balkans conflict of the 1990s.

The exhibition opens on Saturday May 14 and will run through to Saturday July 9. For more information head to the 4A Centre’s official website.
