Imperial Slacks, an artist collective of the late 1990s, will reunite next month in a new exhibition jointly presented by Sydney College of the Arts (SCA) and Campbelltown Arts Centre.

Cosmic Love Wonder Lust:The Imperial SlacksProject,co-curated by Nicholas Tsoutas, Zelda Stedman and Michael Dagostino, reconnects 15 artists known as ‘The Slackers’ who formed the Imperial Slacks Project between 1999 and 2002.

The artists will present pieces previously exhibited during theImperial Slacks Project period alongside newly commissioned works in the exhibition, including an installation by Sean Corderio and Claire Healey, a tactile sculpture installationby Simon Cooper using clothing from each of theSlackers, and Laura Jordon’s installation of robotic bats communicating via mobile phone.

The exhibition not only glimpses into the future of contemporary Australian art, but also a nostalgic trip back to where it all began.

SCA Galleries, University of Sydney will be running the exhibition from Thursday August 13 until Saturday September 12. The Campbelltown Arts Centre will be running fromFriday August 14 until Sunday October 18.
