The Sydney Opera House will host the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company’sHorses In The Sky.

The leading Israeli dance company is set to premiere its new work, delivering a distinctive style of dance with gritty, exuberant and raw movements accompanied by an electic soundtrack that includesBjörk, ÓlafurArnalds and Tim Hecker.

Kibbutz was founded in 1973 by Yehudit Arnon.At Auschwitz she had been punished by Nazi soldiers for refusing to dance for them at Christmas. Surviving the camp, she dedicated her life to dance.

The late Holocaust survivor’s company is now in the hands of dynamic artistic director Rami Be’er, who was born at Kibbutz Ga’aton in northern Israel, the company’s home.

The performance runs at the Drama Theatre, Sydney Opera House from Wednesday August 31 – Saturday September 3. Tickets are from $45 and can be purchasedhere. For more information visit the eventwebsite.
