Chippendale’s Lord Gladstone Hotel is getting set to change its name to the Lord Turnbull Hotel as part of the anti-Tony Abbott ‘Hopeless’ movement.

While the politicians in the Federal Government prevaricate about removing Abbott as the Prime Minister of Australia, the Lord Gladstone isn’t so uneasy about picking sides. Pub owner Paddy Coughlan said in a statement, “Everyone but the Liberal party wants Malcolm Turnbull to be Prime Minister. Tony Abbott is so out of touch it’s embarrassing. He’s like your boring old uncle at Christmas – you’re always thinking, ‘For God’s sake Aunty Joan don’t sit me next to him!!!'”

The hotel’s name change will only last for one day this Friday March 20, timed in conjunction with the Abbottsolutely Hopeless Auction it’s hosting from 6:30pm the same night. The auction aims to raise funds to take the ‘Hopeless’ movement interstate after it popped up in the form of a 4.5-metre-high billboard poster by artist Michael Agzarian in Regent Street, across the street from the hotel.
