To celebrate the 40th Anniversary of International Women’s Day, the University of Sydney is showcasing a moving archive of art, film, and social history projects entitled Future Feminist Archive.

From the tales of institutionalised women in past centuries and pioneering Australian filmmakers of the ’70s to a 2005 time capsule of 100 Sydney artists’ interviews, the Sydney College of the Arts exhibition will cover a long history of art.

The event also marks the 20th anniversary of The National Women’s Art Exhibition held in over 150 venues across Australia, organised by the late feminist art historian Joan Kerr. Future Feminist Archive aims to inspire artists who go searching for what history has overlooked to bring us new stories and perspectives.

Future Feminist Archive runs at Sydney College of the Arts from Wednesday March 6 until Saturday March 28. The event is free, and you can visit the University of Sydney’s website for a full list of projects and pieces on display.
