NAIDOC Week will be returning this July and with it comes a very special chance to educate yourself on Australia’s First Peoples through a celebration of food.

NAIDOC Week is a national program that highlights the National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee and this year will again feature the NAIDOC In The City program, including a series of free cooking demonstrations facilitated by one of Australia’s most acclaimed Aboriginal chefs, Clayton Donovan. Over three demonstrations, Donovan will show Sydneysiders how to make a quinoa and aniseed myrtle dressing, bush tomato sauce and kangaroo san choy bow.

In addition, there will be free marinated meats and vegetables cooked in two earth ovens which have been created in the ground at Hyde Park – an excellent way to embrace the week’s theme of We All Stand On Sacred Ground: Learn, Respect And Celebrate.

NAIDOC In The City will take place at Hyde Park North on Monday July 6 with the earth oven food available from midday. More information through here.
