Drawing on an ongoing series of balloon-inspired sculptures, Experiments In Natural Philosophycontinues Todd Robinson’s inquiry into sculptural presence, materiality and audience reception.

The exhibition features a series of rope sculptures which challenge gravity, rising up to the roof in defiance of the laws to which they are subjected. Alongside these sculptures are large sculptures of balloons that droop and slump as gravity forces itself down on them.

This exploration into nature’s forces comes in reference to the history of science and natural philosophy. Robinson’s works explore the concept of nature as the whole indefinite complexity of what we are aware of, and push his audience to be aware of nature’s forces.

Experiments In Natural Philosophy will run from Wednesday April 29 – Sunday May 24 at Galerie pompom in Chippendale
