From the visionary mind of the man who conjured up Broadway smash musical Hamiltoncomes his earlier work In The Heights, a Latin and hip hop infused energetic exploration of getting by, having a dream and how to move forward.

Lin-Manuel Miranda has made his mark on the musical theatre scene. His works, noted for being boldly vibrant and theatrical, are daring, genre-bending explosions of talent, powerful insight and unapologetic humanity.

The work that initially saw Miranda rocket to international praise was his unforgettable Latin and hip hop bonanza In The Heights. Miranda drew deeply from personal experiences to create a work that explored the burning hopes, pressures and decisions facing the young souls in the Washington Heights. With an eclectic mix of old Latin traditions and the desires of a new generation, Miranda expertly and rhythmically navigates the tensions in a multicultural community seeking to move forward.

Alumni of the Australian Institute of Music have created Exclaim Theatre Company, to recreate In The Heighsfrom the ground up.

In The Heights plays Saturday June 4 until Sunday June 12 at the John Painter Hall.
