Short film lovers rejoice – Tropfest is set to return to Sydney in February.

The news comes less than a month after festival founder and director John Polson announced thecancellation of the event after 23 years – citing issues with money – and is thanks to the brains over at CGU Insurance.

“It’s incredibly encouraging to see that the Australian public and corporate community really want to see Tropfest return,” said Polson.

More than one-and-a-half million people have attended a Tropfest event since it was established in 1993, and the festival attracts a live national audience of upwards of 150,000, with as hundreds of thousands more watching the live TV broadcast.

The Tropfest finalist films will be screened in Sydney’sCentennial Parklandson Valentine’s Day (don’t forget your date!), Sunday February 14, and will also be broadcast from 9pm on SBS2.
