Boomerang Festival 2014, scheduled to return to Byron Bay in October, has now been cancelled.

Organisers have announced the festival will now be a biennial event, to return in 2015 and maintain its focus on First Nation global music and culture. 5,000 people attended Boomerang’s debut in 2013, when the festival was backed by Bluesfest promoter Peter Noble. Boomerang director Rhoda Roberts said in a statement:

“While we are saddened the 2014 event is not taking place, by making our event biennial allows us to nurture and strategically look at the marketplace and seek financial support that will enable us to deliver an extraordinary event and meet even the most discerning festival-goers’ expectations.”
