In an explosive new interview with The Guardian, Angelina Jolie revealed her sadness at ex-husband Brad Pitt working with Harvey Weinstein after she accused him of sexual harassment.

Jolie’s profile in The Guardian came out on Saturday, September 4th, and it’s been making waves since. She bravely discussed a previously released claim against Weinstein that occurred on the set of the 1998 film Playing By Heart, which starred Jolie and was released by Weinstein’s production company Miramax.

“If you get yourself out of the room, you think he attempted but didn’t, right?” Jolie said. “The truth is that the attempt and the experience of the attempt is an assault.”

Jolie revealed that she did her part to raise awareness about Weinstein’s disgusting doings. “It was beyond a pass, it was something I had to escape. I stayed away and warned people about him. I remember telling Jonny (Lee Miller), my first husband, who was great about it, to spread the word to other guys – don’t let girls go alone with him.”

She was asked to join the cast of 2004’s The Aviator, a stellar film directed by Martin Scorsese, but said no due to Weinstein’s close involvement. “I never associated or worked with him again,” Jolie said. “It was hard for me when Brad did.”

Pitt, for his part, would go on to work with Weinstein on 2009’s Inglourious Basterds and again in 2012 on Killing Them Softly. This caused issues at home with his then-partner. “We fought about,” Jolie recalled. “Of course it hurt.”
