There aren’t enough nicknames in comedy. Musicians have got all the good nicknames locked up.


Elvis is The King. Beyoncé’s The Queen. Prince is self-explanatory. Aretha Franklin is the Godmother of Soul. Sinatra is the Chairman of the Board. Bruce Springsteen’s The Boss.


If I got into rock’n’roll now, I’d be lucky to end up with the nickname ‘The Assistant...

The best thing about being a full decade past the glory months of 2007 is that we get to look back and laugh at all the music we collectively thought was awesome back then. 


We also get to feel more fondly about songs that riled us up so much back in 2007, finding ourselves now uttering phrases like, “that Akon part is actually pretty catchy” without the white heat of past-Akon...
