Sam Raimi recently sat down to discuss Evil Dead and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and was asked about Spider-Man 4

In a recent sit-down interview with the Youtube channel Daily Gargoyles, Sam Raimi discussed his cult-classic Evil Dead and his upcoming MCU project, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, Raimi was also asked about the possibility of him reigniting the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man franchise with a Spider-Man 4 movie.

“Sam Raimi on Spider-Man 4:’I didn’t think it was possible, but… anything is possible now.'”

Raimi discussed the possibilities opened up by the multiverse and how it swings open doors that were previously thought to be shut, just as Stephen Strange learns in his upcoming movie.

Sam Raimi also recently talked with Fandango about how much time has elapsed between Doctor Stange in the Multiverse of Madness and Spider-Man: No Way Home.

“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness picks up roughly a few months after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, and it will pit familiar Marvel characters like Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Wong (Benedict Wong) against their greatest enemy yet…”

During the interview, Sam Raimi also detailed another key difference between the movies— No Way Home saw characters from the multiverse coming into the MCU, while Multiverse of Madness will see our MCU characters venture out into the multiverse.

“I guess I would say that … Spider-Man [No Way Home] broke open [the idea that] characters from the multiverse could visit our universe. But this is the first time that characters from our universe will go out into the multiverse and experience other universes.

So, it’s going to be a continuation, but that, I think, is one of the biggest appeals. Finding other realities, and how they rhyme with our own, or how they are completely the opposite, or variations thereof. I think therein lies the interest of this picture.”

Fandango also asked Raimi about the infamous Patrick Stewart cameo as Professor X. While Sam isn’t able to answer the question Patrick Stewart himself has already slipped up on his possible appearance.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to release in theaters May 4th, 2022.
