The hip hop heavyweight will be playing an intimate show at the Soda Factory in January.

Grandmaster Flash, a pioneer of US hip hop, will help revellers extend their New Year celebrations further into 2017 by playing a sweet set at the Surry Hills venue.

He was the first hip hopact to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and invented techniques which are the mainstay of modern hip hop DJing.

Recently he has been starring in the Netflix series The Get Down directed by Aussie legend himself Baz Luhrmann, and his intimate show promises to be a night to remember for any music fan.

Entry will be free until 8pm.

Grandmaster Flash will play The Soda Factory on Friday January 6.
