Fairgrounds festival is one of the best ways to spend a weekend away from the city this summer, tucked away in the coastal haven of Berry, and this year’s festival has pulled out all the stops, bringing in the awesome double-header of indie-pop champs The Shins and the enthralling live show of Future Islands.

It’s not just the U.S. names to get excited about, either, as The Shins will pair very nicely indeed with the gothic folk of NZ’s Aldous Harding, Holly Throsby and rising star D.D. Dumbo, while Client Liaison are the ideal accompaniment to the OTT synth antics of Future Islands.

Guitar fans are more than sorted too, with You Am I joined by Hockey Dad, Jen Cloher, The Teskey Brothers and Royal Headache frontman Shogun.

Another name not to be missed is the awesome U.S. soul/hip hop talent of Noname (who will also be appearing at Victoria’s Meredith Music Festival alongside Future Islands), and there’s plenty more on the cards to be excited about, with the full lineup below.

It’s all happening on December 8 and 9 at the Berry Showgrounds, south of Wollongong, and will have its usual array of show-themed boutique festival trimmings like its signature ferris wheel and Little Fairgrounds facilities for the kids, as well as record stalls and panel talks with some of the artists.
