The Big Day Out 2014 lineup speculation is over – and turns out it wasn’t far off the mark after all.

Pearl Jam, Arcade Fire and Blur will headline the festival this summer, with the latter making their first Australian appearances since 1997. Guess we’ll be digging those Fred Perry shirts out of the closet at last.

Pearl Jam and Arcade Fire are set to play new material for their BDO fans, with Eddie Vedder’s group releasing a new album, Lightning Bolt, this October.

Joining the headliners are Snoop Dogg, or Lion, depending on his mood; Major Lazer, Flume, Tame Impala, The Lumineers, Grouplove, Mudhoney, Pez, The Naked and Famous, Toro Y Moi and many others, including more to be announced.

DZ Deathrays are on the bill too, the duo performing DJ duties at last night’s announcement party in Sydney alongside a cardboard cut-out of Snoop himself (saving those visa troubles for when we need him properly).

Sydney’s Big Day Out dates take place over the Australia Day weekend; Sunday January 26 and Monday January 27.

The full lineup announced so far is available at www.bigdayout.com and tickets are available for registered BDO members from tomorrow (general release tickets go on sale Thursday August 8).
