Big Day Out organisers have cancelled the festival’s second Sydney show after admitting they were “a bit ambitious expanding to two dates”.

The festival’s Monday January 27 event will be merged into one show on Australia Day, Sunday January 26. Tickets already purchased for the second date are now valid for the January 26 festival. Ticketholders can also opt to receive a full refund or exchange their January 27 ticket for any other Big Day Out festival in Melbourne, Gold Coast, Adelaide or Perth. Organisers are also “looking into a possible expanded capacity for January 26”.

Big Day Out 2014 is headlined by Pearl Jam, Arcade Fire and Blur with the latter making their first Australian appearance since 1997.Joining the headliners are Snoop Dogg, or Lion, depending on his mood; Major Lazer, Flume, Tame Impala, The Lumineers, Grouplove, Mudhoney, Pez, The Naked and Famous, Toro Y Moi and more.
