Tributes have rained down following the death of one of hip hop’s legends, Prodigy of Mobb Deep, and this week two of the rap game’s biggest names delivered their own fitting homages for Hot 97 host Peter Rosenberg.

Kendrick Lamar and Eminem both recorded their own takes on their favourite Prodigy lyrics for the show, SPIN reports, with Eminem choosing the famous “halfway crooks” verse from The Infamous cut ‘Survival of the Fittest’, and Kendrick going in on ‘Genesis’, plucked from Prodigy’s debut solo effort H.N.I.C.

“I just want to say rest in peace to Prodigy,” Em added in a short message. “We love you, homie. Hip-hop loves you. You will forever be missed.”

You can hear the verses in the intro to this week’s show, with the remaining couple of hours bringing you non-stop classics from the late emcee.
