Made in under three weeks for less than three million British pounds, Four Weddings and a Funeral became one of the most successful films of all time, grossing over $245 million, spawning a series of Richard Curtis romantic comedies, and introducing the world to a Hugh Grant character so foppish and positively dapper that even being busted with a prostitute couldn’t derail his puppy dog charm.

The film also contains one of the best lines ever, when Hugh Grant’s character turns to an old man and says, “How do you do, my name is Charles”, to which the guy replies angrily: “Don’t be ridiculous, Charles died 20 years ago!” Genius.

Anyway, because time is a flat circle, Four Weddings and a Funeral is the latest movie getting the TV series treatment. Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Mindy Kaling is developing it, writing the new series with Mindy Project showrunner Matt Warburton. The show is being developed for Hulu.

Like the film, the five narratives will interweave, but each season will focus on a different story arc. Does this mean Hulu are basically committing to five seasons?
