The Australian Independent Record Labels Association have revealed the nominees for the 2015 Carlton Dry Independent Music Awards. Ten years on from the awards’ inception, the selection represents the finest independent music from the last 12 months, spanning a wide range of genres.

Best Independent Artist sees #1 Dads, Chet Faker, Courtney Barnett, Hermitude and Vance Joy competing for the top prize, while Breakthrough Independent Artist of the Year sees #1 Dads, Briggs, Client Liaison, Japanese Wallpaper and Totally Mild as contenders for the revered title.

Best Independent Single or EP sees two nominations from Barnett for ‘Depreston’and ‘Pedestrian At Best’alongside ‘Cuffed and Collared’from Bad//Dreems, ‘The Buzz’from Hermitude and Vance Joy’s ‘The FireAnd The Flood’.

Other categories include Best Independent Hip Hop Album (Baro, Briggs, Citizen Kay, One Day and Seth Sentry), Best Independent Blues and Roots Album (C.W. Stoneking, Fraser A. Gorman, Gurrumul, Marlon Williams and Paul Kelly) and Best Hard Rock Album (British India, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Northlane, The Peep Tempel and The Smith Street Band).
