Somehow, Morrissey’s music doesn’t sound as mopey in Spanish and with a horn section behind it.

That’s the idea behind Mexrrissey, the Latin American tribute to The Smiths frontman and solo veteran that you never knew you needed (but really you did, deep down). Manchester’s master of mopeyness has a huge fan base in Mexico, but courtesy of Sydney Festival 2016, that nation’s finest tribute act is now coming to Australia.

Here’s what they sound like taking on a Morrissey solo classic:

The Guardianwrote earlier this year of Mexrrissey: “this earnest tribute is a labour of love, not a postmodern snigger”, and it’s hard to disagree.
