Soundwave has confirmed its dates for the reduced three-city festival in 2016.

Next year, Australia’s biggest touring rock festival will only visit Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane – all in the one week – after the event’s well-documented issues with Adelaide and Perth. Unlike this year’s two-day event, Soundwave will return to one day per city in 2016.

The event’s dates, covering the Australia Day weekend, also comes as bad news for the mooted return of Big Day Out, which previously toured the country in the same period.

Soundwave 2016 comes to Sydney on Sunday January 24.
