Sydney Festival is returning in 2016, and ahead of the full program announcement, organisers have revealed the ever-expanding Parramatta schedule for January.

The festival’s next edition will feature a dedicated new precinct in Parramatta, and for the first time the Western Sydney program will run for the duration of the festival.

One of the most visible attractions on the lineup will be theArquitectura de Feria installation in Prince Alfred Square, where children and adults alike can take part in a hands-on fairground experience that relies on people power to bring the rides to life, including a hand-cranked Ferris wheel and a bicycle-powered carousel.

Riverside Theatres will host a number of productions includingLa Verità, the circus, acrobatics and dance piece byCompagnia Finzi Pasca, andCypher, a b-boy celebration of hip hop culture. A theatre piece starring Catherine McClements,The Events, will open at Granville Town Hall.

Sydney Festival will also bring a number of dance-friendly music acts to Parramatta for the program, includingDaM-FunK andMatthew E. White.
