Billed as “Australia’s first annual neo-soul, jazz and hip hop festival”, Soulfest will debut this October in Victoria Park, Broadway, will headliners Maxwell and D’Angelo joined by the likes of Common and Aloe Blacc.

Mos Def, Anthony Hamilton, Angie Stone and Musiq Soulchild also feature on a diverse bill set to fill a soul-shaped hole in the yearly festival market. Neither of the headliners Maxwell and D’Angelo have appeared in Australia before – but then, nor has an event aimed at this particular genre (at least not on this scale). Other acts lined up for the festival include Leela James, Ngaiire, Nathaniel, Ms Murphy, Miracle and DJ Trey.

Soulfest 2014 hits Victoria Park on Saturday October 18. General public tickets go on sale 10am Tuesday April 15, while registered Soulfest members can access a presale from 9am Monday April 7.
