Celebrating one of Sydney’s favourite suburbs’ (un)official independence day, Newtown Festival 2014 is on its way and promises to be bigger and better than ever.

This year, festival organisers have decided to separate themselves from the political stresses and budget turmoil plaguing the rest of Australia by turning Newtown into its own micronation: The Republic of Newtown. As usual Newtown Festival will feature a smorgasbord of music, arts and deliciousness demonstrating the commitment the suburb has to sustainability and creativity.

It’s all happening on Sunday November 9 in Camperdown Memorial Rest Park.Entry is by donation with all proceeds going to the community projects run by the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre.
