Sydney folk-rock outfit Wilder have just released their anticipated debut single ‘Ghosts’, the first enticing taste of their upcoming EP, set for release later on in the year.

Deeply emotive from the jump, ‘Ghosts’ is content to slowly build itself up around singer Will De Los Santos’ pristine vocals, gradually layering lush atmospherics as it sheds its intimate beginnings to reach a defiant peak. Described as “an ode to lost love, and the look on someone’s face as they realise that their ‘forever-love’ is leaving them,” the track was written about the pain of watching his father leave his mother, and that personal battle is made clear in every bitter refrain.

Judging by the lead single, the EP is shaping up very nicely indeed – not surprising considering they’ve enlisted the production skills of Tim Carr, who you may recognise as the name behind the likes of local folk royalty like Matt Corby and Julia Stone.

While we’ll need to wait a little longer to get our hands on the album, you can grab ‘Ghosts’ tomorrow, and find out what else Wilder are capable of when they celebrate their debut with a free gig at the Della Hyde in Sydney on Friday 14th of July.
