Ostensibly a band, named after the love interest in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Sloan Peterson is the vehicle for Sydney singer songwriter Joe Jackson, who dabbles in music that sits somewhere between Nico’s solo albums, Bethany’s early Best Coast recordings, Mazzy Star’s swoony creations, and Phil Spector’s less sugary discs.

‘I Want You’ is a sun-drenched Gidget anthem, every bit as dreamy as the accompanying video.

Like the very early Lana Del Rey clips, this video and song combination seems beamed in from the late ’60s, an grainy old Super 8 video found in a shoebox, starring happy strangers long since dead – or stuck in dead-end lives.

It’s nostalgic, it’s current, it’s of its own world – and it’s quite nice to visit. Enjoy!
