The Sydney Opera House will host some dangerous ideas indeed this year, when Pussy Riot and Salman Rushdie appear as part of the Festival Of Dangerous Ideas 2014.

Nadya Tolonnikova and Masha Alekhina, members of the Russian punk band jailed for their activism, will be on hand to discuss their experiences, as well controversial author Rushdie. They’re just three of more than 40 speakers visiting Sydney on the last weekend in August as part of the festival’s sixth edition. Also appearing is former Australian Prime Minister Malcom Fraser.
