There have been plenty of times in the past when you’ve wanted to play music from your phone, only to discover that your phone just isn’t loud enough. Need good cooking tunes, but can’t hear your phone over the pots and pans? At a party and need to show someone your tunes? Until now, we’ve just had to deal with it, but thankfully, someone out there has discovered a nifty hack to pump up the volume once and for all.

As NME reports, this little hack isn’t exactly anything too fancy, but rather it’s based around utilising the often-overlooked EQ feature in your iPhone’s settings.

Basically, you want to change the equalisation of your phone’s output so that your music gets louder. But how do you do that?

Firstly, you need to swing over to the Settings of your phone, and scroll down until you find the Music app. From there, head down to the ‘Playback’ section, and go into the EQ menu. Once you’re there, change the EQ to ‘Late Night’, and voilà, suddenly your iPhone has the edge above all others.

Once you’ve done this, you’ll either be the coolest kid at the party, or the equivalent of that one bloke on the train that always listens to music without earphones. Don’t be that guy.
