1. What Do You Look For In A DJ/Producer?

My Minx sound is a fairly large sound! I love to play main room progressive house. I love breakdowns and big builds and you will always hear a house element to my sets. Whether I incorporate tracks with piano, sax or a beautiful vocal, that’s my little signature really. Some real feeling in amongst the craziness…

I don’t like to be too predictable and that shines back to me through the crowd, I think. The surprise and excitement on their faces followed by some hands in the air action lets me know they’re digging what I’m doing. Definitely don’t plan on coming to one of my gigs and standing in the corner.

2. Keeping Busy

The past few months have been a mixture of work and personal activities, really. After moving into a new place, I have been back in the studio with my buddy Chris Arnott as we’ve been working on another single together. I have been touring a bit but also made time to squeeze in a little holiday.

I’ve had a few Asian gigs and trips this year, so the past few months I’ve mainly been gigging around Oz. The main focus has really been on rolling this new single out though. ‘Heaven’ was released early this month and so I’ve been putting all my energy into promo and touring for that. I’m so happy how it’s all turning out and we’ve had a great response from the industry so far. It’s available on iTunes and Beatport, just in case you were wondering.

3. Best Gig Ever

I’ve been thinking hard about this – not because I can’t think of my best gig ever, but I’m trying to narrow it down to just one. My main stage opportunities at festivals in Australia have been the best time of my life. I felt nerves and excitement I’ve never felt before… however, I will never forget my Ibiza shows. The show that stands out for me has to be playing alongside Diplo, Paul Oakenfold, Disclosure, David Guetta, Carl Cox, Pete Tong and Loco Dice over two days at IMS at Dalt Vila at the opening of the 2012 season. I will never forget seeing my name on the posters and billboards around the island and the feeling that gave me. No words.

4. Current Playlist

I have a real mixed bag taste in music. I love and listen to everything from The Doors and The Beatles, to Disclosure and Lorde, to Maya Jane Coles, Will Saul, Tini and Eelke Kleijn, to RüFüS and of course my main room progressive house that I play – Eric Prydz, Jerome Isma-Ae, Kryder, and the list goes on.

5. Your Ultimate Rider

Yikes! I just hate being difficult and putting people out, so I normally don’t ask for much. Some champagne or vodka usually does the job for me.

Minx plays her ‘Heaven’ single launch party at Pacha at Ivy Bar/Lounge on Saturday October 26.
