Sydney Film Festival have this morning announced the largest cash fellowship for short film in Australia.

Four cash fellowships of $50,000 are up for grabs through the 2018 Lexus Australia Short Film Fellowship.

Submissions are open until August 24, and to be eligible, you need to enter the Lexus Short Films competition, the winners of which will collaborate with The Weinstein Company on a film project.

Australian actor and director Damian Walshe-Howling won the Lexus Short Series (the international version of the Fellowship) and recommends you try to win, too.

“The competition allowed me to write and direct my third film concept MESSiAH,in collaboration with The Weinstein Company, travel around the world for premieres at international Festivals – including our World Premiere at Sydney Film Festival, make invaluable connections, and ultimately to discover so much more about the filmmaking process,” he explains.

Finalists will be announced in November 2017, with the Lexus Australia Short Film Fellows announced in June 2018.

There’s no entry fee, either, which is often the catch with these kinda thing. To enter, click here.
