Burger Project has stirred things up, with a sumptuous menu upgrade and mouth-watering dessert collab in partnership with choc and licorice gods Darrell Lea.

The new menu includes bolder flavours and more choices to tailor your meal deal to taste, and is available now at all nine Burger Project across Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.

There’s a new Southern Fried Chicken Burger

We gave the new Southern Fried Chicken Burger a road test. You can’t fault it – a tender southern fried free-range Lilydale chicken breast topped off with aioli and pickles stacked in a delicious milk bun. The Deluxe version (a must) adds fresh juicy tomato, crisp lettuce, and cheese.

It’s just like the real deal from the states. It was inspired by a recent trip to the US by Burger Project founder and Rockpool Dining Group Culinary Director Neil Perry. He sought to “shake up (Burger Project’s) chicken burger offering and add something simple without compromising flavour”.

For Perry, the classic southern fried chicken burger ticks all those boxes. And it surely does on Burger Project’s new menu.

Tailored to your taste buds

Any burger can be bolstered with a new selection of ‘extras’ and can be doubled-up, triple-decked, or turbocharged with extra layers. For our lunch, we added the house-pickled jalapeños, which gave a great, but not over-bearing “zing”.

Desserts to die for

Burger Project’s collab with Darrell Lea brings a suite of exclusive desserts to the new menu. House-churned soft-serve is smashed, mashed and spiked with a range of goodies, including Darrell Lea signature treats, creating six, sensational “Smash Ups”.

They’re like a Maccas McFlurry but so, so, SO much better (thanks to Darrell Lea’s quality signature ingredients)!

Our Smash Up choice: Liquorice & Chocolate (combining chocolate soft serve with Darrell Lea’s signature licorice). The other options make it hard to pick though!
