The Mushroom Group, Australia’s leading independent music and entertainment group is on the hunt for a passionate music publicist, based in Sydney, to join the groups label division. Mushroom Labels is a diverse family of award-winning record labels representing the likes of Vance Joy, Childish Gambino, DMA’S, Julia Jacklin, Alex Lahey, The Teskey Brothers, Lastlings, alt-j and The Rubens, to name a few.

Based in our Sydney office in Woolloomooloo, this is an exciting opportunity for a charismatic individual, well versed in the Australian media landscape, to join one of the most iconic companies in Australian music.

About the Role:  

Working in a full-time capacity, and as a key member of the core artist team, we are looking for a passionate music lover who will be responsible for developing and executing strategic media plans for their allocated roster of artists. The successful applicant will have a proven track record in planning and executing music media campaigns, a great network of contacts, a desire to think outside the box and a strong understanding of the media landscape in Australia. 

Key Responsibilities Include: 

  • Develop strategic media plans for your allocated artist roster in collaboration with the label and GM, Media & Strategy.
  • Execute day-to-day press strategy across Print, TV, Online, whilst coordinating other internal media staff to deliver across all other areas of traditional and non-traditional media.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across all media, with a focus on print, TV, online.
  • Provide regular reporting & press updates.
  • Manage & maintain artist schedules in line with the overall artist strategy.
  • Liaise with artist management on all media and artist scheduling requests.
  • On ground artist relations responsibilities.
  • Attend gigs, events and launches in a work capacity out of regular business hours as required.

 Selection Criteria: 

  • Min. 2+ years of experience in music publicity, or similar.
  • Has an in-depth understanding of the Australian media landscape.
  • Has a broad music knowledge and an appreciation for a variety of music genres.
  • Strong music vocabulary and confident pitching music verbally and in writing.

This position will be based on-site in our office in Forbes Street Woolloomooloo, with some flexibility to work remotely. All applicants must be fully vaccinated – and must have current permanent working rights in Australia to be considered for this role
