About the opportunity:

We are currently searching for a brilliant Lifestyle Editor to join our editorial and branded content team. Under the lifestyle umbrella, The Brag Media covers film & TV, comedy, food & drink, travel, theatre, health, and leisure.

This position reports into The Brag Media’s Editorial Operations Manager.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Stay up to date and respond to the latest in Australian lifestyle and pop culture news
  • Write branded and non-branded content for and sub-edit copy in the lifestyle category
  • Write, commission, and edit custom branded and non-branded content within the lifestyle category
  • Follow The Brag Media’s style and creative manuals
  • Develop strategies for generating meaningful content that garners a high volume of visits, and encourages awareness and excitement around our products
  • Maintain The Brag Media’s brand voice and integrity in all editorial
  • Help grow our freelancer network with voices that created smart and elevated content
  • Oversee and implement strategies for consistent audience growth
  • Assist Editors, Campaigns and Sales staff with writing and logistics of branded editorial content as it pertains to the lifestyle category.
  • Constantly research and come up with new initiatives to increase engagement on all sites and social media accounts
  • Monitor and ensure SEO is compliant across all articles
  • Track and study current performance of our social media channels and those of our competitors

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Exceptional writing, copyediting, news writing, digital media, and marketing skills
  • Ability to guide contributors toward the creation of meaningful, quality content, with attention to serving the interests of the brand and the audience
  • Has broad knowledge and practical experience of the current landscape in digital journalism
  • Confident with reviewing data analytics and incorporating insights into your work (e.g Google Analytics)
  • Familiar with content management systems like WordPress, Tumblr, as well as basic HTML
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to align internal and external stakeholders
  • Budget management experience
  • A genuine interest and understanding of branded content in the digital media space, from conceptualisation to execution
