Role Description
GYROstream is Australia’s leading digital music distribution and artist services company for independent artists. The team are looking for a results obsessed A&R Coordinator to join and help drive the success of the company’s priority artist roster.
The A&R Coordinator at GYROstream works primarily across the GYROstream products and brands and also GYROstream’s sister company DistroDirect. They support the A&R team to foster and develop relationships with artists, managers, independent labels and other music industry entities to grow GYROstream and DistroDirect’s client base. From inception to release you will assist with the release process and liaise both internally and externally to ensure client services are being met. You will also promote GYROstream’s additional artist services and act as a representative for the company on-ground in your local market.
The job requires an exceptional administrator and a confident, enthusiastic and results-driven communicator who thrives on finding good music and has a passion for the independent music sector and building relationships. You are a self-starter, able to work independently and someone who can develop highly effective systems and work quickly to achieve real and measurable results.
POSITION OBJECTIVES
- Support the administrative and operational functions of the A&R team and be the glue between the artist, streaming partnerships, marketing team and distribution team to ensure seamless delivery and execution of projects for priority artists.
- Find and onboard priority leads for distribution within AU/NZ and support the A&R team in pitching to onboard new artists, catalogue and labels;
- Always be looking for ways GYROstream can work closer with artists across all product offerings
- Enhance GYROstream, GROUP SPEED and DistroDirect brands both locally and internationally by maintaining key artist and industry relationships.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with the A&R Managers to develop and retain strong relationships with independent artists, managers and labels both within and outside the GYROstream family.
- Administration support for A&R Managers and Streaming Partnerships Manager including but not limited to assisting in the reviewing of playlist pitching applications, release calendar updates, internal release update checks, timeline proposals, deal pitch proposals and reach out lists.
- Prep notes for meetings, take minutes and keep track of action points and research artist viability.
- Filing – Music + Assets in folders for easy use, keeping track of agreements in folders and ensuring correct royalty rates and deal terms are applied within GYROstream software system
- Screen incoming requests to the A&R team where required
- Work with the A&R Managers to scout and approach new and established musical talent: managers/ artists / producers / beatmakers and other music businesses with the intention of bringing them into the GYROstream or DistroDirect family.
- Coordinate with artist management and GYROstream in-house teams to ensure delivery of distribution and services value proposition
- Assist the A&R Manager and Streaming Partnerships Manager in being the point person for GYROstream’s existing priority artists and their teams to ensure artist retention and assist with career growth strategies.
- Provide cover for the A&R Manager when they are on annual leave
- Identify potential artist candidates for all of GYROgroup’s brands and programs and work with GYRO management team on negotiations and roll out for each offering
- Work closely with the Streaming Partnerships Manager to coordinate pitching priority artists and ensure agreements and deals are upheld.
- Represent GYROstream and DistroDirect in meetings, at shows, and on calls with artist management and bands/brands
- Promote GYROstream and DistroDirect’s full suite of artist promotional services to relevant clients
- Become intimately familiar with the GYRO group catalogue and assist in advising releases and artists for Sync briefs and brand opportunities.
- Conducting basic quick response distribution functions such as setting up accounts, Ingesting / setting up releases, moving timed releases and sending presave links.
- Alongside the A&R managers, coordinate all award submissions and chart certifications.
- Submit and ensure all required chart monitoring submissions for ARIA, Billboard and other territories where required across the GYRO group.
Role Requirements
- Minimum three years experience in related music industry roles
- Strong proven relationships with local, national and international industry contacts
- Possess a positive attitude, passion for life and marketing, grace under pressure and ability to work in a fast-paced environment and team required.
- Experience in creating release timelines and strategies to maximise exposure
- A trend-spotting tastemaker, you thrive off of being in the know.
- An administrative whiz, you are a master of record keeping and creating new procedures to drive process driven success.
- Comprehensive knowledge and ability to understand artist marketing drivers and identify relevant opportunities for artists.
- Attention to detail, while being able to prioritize and multi-task.

- Express ideas clearly and succinctly in both written and verbal communication to both clients and internal staff
