Two filmmakers from the Northern Beaches are embarking on an epic journey to uncover what our seas might look like if the world commits to protecting them – and they need your help.

With cameos from a prince, an island chief, a former park ranger and some passionate scientists, it sounds more like something out of a childrens’ adventure novel, but it’s real and all for a good cause.

Co-directors James Sherwood and Danielle Ryan (Bluebottle Films) have launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund a documentary called The Map To Paradise, which aims to capture the stunning beauty of the world’s oceans and spark global action to protect them.

With the support of Ocean Elder Prince Albert II of Monaco, the filmmakers hope to show the world that starry-eyed dreams can come true and that we can give our marine life a happy ending.

The documentary itself is about the birth of the marine protected area movement around the world, and builds on a number of short ocean films Bluebottle have made about the quest for marine protection in Australia. All going to plan, filming will begin in 2017.
