From acclaimed Italian contemporary artistFrancesco Clemente comes his first major Australian exhibition,Francesco Clemente: Encampment,hosted by Carriageworks.

The second major international artist announced in the Schwartz Carriageworks series, this free public presentation will include six of Clemente’s celebrated large-scale tents, transforming30,000 square feet of exhibition spaceinto a lavish tented village.

Clemente has collaborated with a community of Indian artisans over the course of three years to produce these intricate tents, hosting depictions of physical love, spiritual reincarnation and arcane symbols.

The Italian contemporary artist came to prominence in the mid-1970s and is widely recognised asone of the most evocative artists working today, with work being collected by major museums around the world.

Open free to the public,Francesco Clemente: Encampmentruns daily from 10am to 6pm from Saturday July 30 until Sunday October 9 at Carriageworks.
